Mission
- Purpose: Aino Kakehashi literally means A Bridge of Love. It is our aim to build such a bridge between Japan & India as well as other Asian countries, to promote not only a deeper understanding of our diverse cultures, religions and ways of life but also to share any mutual, social and spiritual benefits and strengths and thus establish a solid and loving relationship between us. Another important facet of our work is an ongoing programme whereby young volunteer workers from Japan are provided the opportunity to receive vocational training through active social work in India. They participate in literacy programmes for the disadvantaged, teach street children, visit orphanages and hospitals and organize motivational musical performances. etc.
- Trustees: Our NGO personnel roster is unique in that we have the representation of professionals from diverse fields such as a doctor, a teacher, a journalist, a priest, a computer programmer, etc.
- Legal constitution: We are legally registered as a Non Profit Organization at the Hiroshima Prefectural Office.
- Activities in Pune:
- We hold Hiroshima/Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibitions at colleges, universities and various public as well as private schools to promote peace and love.
- We distribute clothes and stationary supplies to the needy.
- We hold cultural exchange programmes with young students in Pune.
- We visit orphanages, institutions and hospitals in order to comfort the patients and children.
Japan Earthquake Aid
1. We’d like to give monetary support to those in dire need through Japanese Red Cross Society, trusting that JRC knows who are the ones desperately needing the financial support.
2. There are many people in the refugee’s camps without food, light, gas, heat & drinking water due to the road blockage and the electric power cut caused by the earthquake and tsunami waves. The temperature in North-East region goes below zero, and elderly people especially are suffering hypothermia without proper heating system.
We, Aino Kakehashi Project, will be working with a Finland based NGO in order to donate solar powered generators to various facilities, refugee’s camps & emergency evacuation centers to supply electric power for various equipments, such as mobile phones, battery-operated PCs, flash lights, water pumps, etc..
3. There are many people who lost their family members, relatives & loved ones by the earthquake and tsunami waves. Their sorrows are unimaginable, and they need so much emotional support at this time of trouble.
We will open up phone lines and a mail address for those who need assistance and help. We want to cross over a bridge between the earthquake/tsunami victims and government administrations. We will also set up a phone line for those who just need a listening ear.
